Surrounding Elliot Lake as far as the crow can fly, are thousands of freshwater lakes and rivers among some of the most dramatic and unspoiled natural landscapes in the north. There are municipal boat launches on the lakes in and around town and numerous man-made and natural launches provide access to other inland waterways. Numerous local operators provide marina services, boat rentals, repairs and guides.

Just a 15 minute drive south, lies the North Channel, a slim corridor of upper Lake Huron which is one of the best cruising grounds in North America and the best freshwater sailing area in the world.
