2008 City Council
On Monday, December 4th, 2007, the City of Elliot Lake introduced its new Mayor and City Council. Rick Hamilton became the second Mayor of the City, and the fifth to hold the leadership roll as head of Council since Elliot Lake's inception. Joining Mayor Hamilton are returning Councillors Doug Souliere and Scot Reinhardt, and first time Councillors Dawn Morissette, Ken Rastin, Al Collett, and Chris Patrie. The New Council's first official meeting was on Monday, December 11th, 2007.

A Note from the Mayor:
We have come through hard times in the past decade. Our community is on a path to prosperity and growth. Economic development and opportunity will be the hallmarks for the future of Elliot Lake. Expansion of our cottage lot program, tourism initiatives, and residential development will lead the way. I am excited about my upcoming term as Mayor.

Mayor Rick Hamilton
- Resident of Elliot Lake since 1979
- Formerly employed by Denison Mines Ltd. as a welder
- Married with two grown children: Rick Jr. and Jennifer. He has 4 grandchildren: Makaylah, Taylor, Hannah, and Shia
- Employed by the Office of the Worker Advisor
- City Councillor for the past 7 years, Deputy Mayor for the last 4
- Born and raised in Elliot Lake
- Chose to return to Elliot Lake to raise her two young children with her husband
- Degree in Bachelor of Business Administration, Honours
- Draws from her experiences throughout western Canada and southern Ontario in project management, facilitation, and negotiation
- Believes Elliot Lake can be a strong and vibrant community if we continue to focus on our assets, infrastructure, and economy. She looks forward to being an integral part of each of these
- A retiree from Rio Algom Mines Ltd, and a 5-term president of the USWA Office and Technical Worker's Union, Doug has been active in his workplace and his community for many years. He believes in helping people.
- A pioneer of the city, he has chosen to remain in Elliot Lake and be an active part of its development and advancement
- Committed to growth, tourism, community safety, and ensuring sound decision-making while remembering that such decisions affect us all
- Has 3 children with wife Sharon, and 4 grandchildren
- Graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Mathematics degree
- Has been self-employed since 1994, operating a Strategic Consulting business in the information technology field
- Hopes to utilize his business and analytical skills to assist in bringing Elliot Lake forward in a possitive, planned, and stratetic manner.
- Making Elliot Lake his permanent home in 2003, he enjoys a happy home life with partner Doreen and her three children
- First elected in 2000
- Long-time resident of Elliot Lake and the region, with roots in the mining and trapping industries
- Committed to promoting the quality of life and wilderness surroundings of Elliot Lake, as well as to an active municipal government, with ratepayer accountability and transparency
- Born and raised in Elliot Lake
- Owns and operates a local business with wife Kelli
- Active in the community while raising two young daughters
- Committed to community growth and expansion as well as a stable tourism economy
- Welcomes imput, comments, and any concerns residents may have with a open mind
