Family Health Team

In July 2007, a new medical clinic opened its doors in downtown Elliot Lake.  After years of planning, all of the community's practising family doctors moved from 3 separate locations into one recently renovated, state of art medical facility.  The family doctors are co-located with other related health care practitioners like nurse practitioners, dieticians and social workers, funded through the province's Family Health Team initiative.  The Family Health Team concept means that other health care practitioners work hand in hand with general practitioners to see more patients overall and decrease the need for Emergency Room visits at the local hospital for routine health concerns.  Health care for Elliot Lake residents is conveniently located under one roof.

Also located inside the clinic building will be a new and larger Rexall pharmacy as well as a private lab performing blood work and analysis.  To improve accessibility to the clinic and pharmacy front entrance, the lower plaza parking lot adjacent to the building was raised some 12 feet and received a major facelift.
