Business Retention + Expansion

Completed between 2005 and 2007, BR-E was a joint venture between City Hall, ELNOS and East Algoma CFDC with advice from the Elliot Lake and District Chamber of Commerce. 

Based on recommendations from the Business Outreach Committee, it was decided that Elliot Lake needed to support the expansion and retention of existing businesses.  The report was used to gauge the current and future business climate in Elliot Lake.  Confidential and impartial interviews were conducted with a variety of business owners from all employment sectors, with emphasis on:

  • Running a small to medium sized business in Elliot Lake;
  • Barriers  encountered by small to medium sized businesses; and
  • Opportunities for growth.

 As a result, business owners had a direct and anonymous feed to City Hall, ELNOS and EA CFCD.
