 The City of Elliot Lake recognizes and promotes the full participation of all Elliot Lake Residents regardless of financial circumstances.  Fee assistance through a 'Welcome Card' application can be applied for by calling & booking an appointment with the Parks & Recreation Department at 848-2287 x 2134.

 How to access financial assistance:

Residents of the City of Elliot Lake can make application for a 'Welcome Card'.  Three (3) rates of subsidy are available based on the following chart:

What is required to prove need?

Notice of Assessment                                             

- an electronic copy of the application form will be kept on file ( to facilitate annual renewals ).   Reviewers will verify qualification from the " Notice of Assessment " and return the document to the applicant.

- NO personal information will be retained with the City of Elliot Lake under any circumstances.

-  Welcome Cards are required ONLY at the time of purchase. 

What will be the subsidy rate?

Level 1 - will receive a 33% discount

Level 2 - will receive a 66 % discount

Level 3 - will receive a 90 % discount of the program or service user fee

Who will administer the policy and issue the " Welcome Card "?

Confidential appointments will be scheduled with the Director of Parks and Recreation or the Recreation Co-ordinator by calling 848-2287 x 2134 - Monday through Friday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.

When will cards be issued and how long are they good for?

Appointments can be made Monday - Friday at City Hall - 8:30 am - 4:30 pm. In addition: clinics will be set up at each of the Multi-Residential facilities to assist those with transportation issues.  Cards will be good for one year and photo identification when using the card will be required.

Where can a resident obtain an application form?:

Applications will be available on the City website and at all Municipal facilities

What fees and services are available under the " Welcome Card " ?

( applicable services will be identified in the User Fee by-law )

- all programs offered directly by the Parks and Recreation Department

- facility memberships

- transit passes and

- where possible the City of Elliot Lake will work with other partners to determine additional opportunities for participation.

What services are NOT covered under the " Welcome Card "?

All fees and services were reviewed to determine whether a fee subsidy could be applied, however some deliverables are directly related to the service and tied to the cost of that function. 

- fees that are already subsidized ie: child and student rates, Handi-transit

- single use fees ie:  public swim, public skate, facility use, transit fare

- building permits and services

- various licences and permits

- Municipal fines and fees

Further Assistance:

We fully realize that coming up with even the subsidized rate can be difficult.  A payment plan can be arranged.
