WESTVIEW PARK

The parks and open space systems within the City limits are comprised of more than 200 acres of different types of properties with distinct functions. These include 7 neighbourhood parks which primarily serve local residents; 11 community parks which provide facilities for sporting and active recreational activities; 5 tourism parks which provide both a local and external tourism attraction for the community including the Miner's Memorial & Monument, the Trailhead at Highways 108 and 17, the Fire Tower Lookout, Westview trailer Park and the Symbol Park; 4 natural environment parks which provide for passive and interactive leisure opportunities within a natural environment including 3 hiking trails totalling 14 kms and 1 cross country ski trail of 15 km, and civic beautification areas,
The Parks Department is responsible for the floral displays throughout the City and the maintenance of all grass areas (40 hectares), 13 playgrounds, 5 sports fields and facility buildings.
The City also maintains 4 municipal boat launches.
