Hiking
There are hundreds of hiking, walking and backpacking opportunities within minutes of Elliot Lake's downtown core and along the Deer Trail, a scenic driving route surrounding Elliot Lake. Our trails allow all levels of users to enjoy some of the most magnificent and oldest rock formations in the world, not to mention the thrills and surprises of the natural wildlife. Deer, moose and bear are commonly seen along the route. All of our trails offer spectacular lookout points, accenting the region's geology, history and natural beauty.

If you don't want to venture too far, start with one of our many trails within the City or take the Deer Trail north to Mississagi Provincial Park to take on one of the 6 more challenging and remote trails within the park.

A few minutes south of the City lies the Voyageur Trail, part of the provincial trail that spans across to Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario and links to the Cross Canada Trail system.
