Ice Fishing
Fishing is one of the biggest reasons that people come to the Elliot Lake area and with good reason. We have more than 4,000 lakes in the region, and dozens of them, some over 200 feet deep, carry the largest stock of lake trout in Ontario. You can also expect to catch speckle and rainbow trout, bass, northern pike, whitefish, walleye and perch.

During the winter months, fishing takes on a new twist as fishing enthusiasts bore holes in the frozen lakes, set up their huts and indulge in some ice fishing. It's a great winter activity that can mean hours or even days of relaxation for friends and families. If you want real adventure try snowmobiling to some of the more remote lakes. The locals say that no one ever comes back without a catch.
