Elliot Lake Nuclear / Mining Museum -
Northern Home of the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame |
||||||||||||||
| Elliot Lake was once touted as the Uranium Capital of the World. The Elliot Lake Nuclear and Mining Museum now stands as a tribute and celebration of our proud mining heritage. Officially designated as the Northern Home of the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame, the Museum greets visitors from all over the world and has received much acclaim for its quality exhibits and presentations. The Museum traces the history of the area from the early trapping to logging, through the full circle of its Uranium mining industry from it origins to its state-of-the-art closure. Central to the exhibit, the Northern Home of the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame displays portraits of individuals who have demonstrated outstanding lifetime achievement in the mining industry. The Museum houses the Dr. Franc Joubin Mineral Collection plus much of his geology equipment including his pic, Geiger counter and technical library books on mining. Our hours of operation are as follows: September to May: If you require further information, feel free to contact the co-ordinator at (705) 848-2084. |
